OrtografĂa means "spelling", a word you'd expect in a classroom, not a love song! This is what makes its use here so clever and unique.
In the lyrics, the singer says, "Hoy te escribo sin pensar y sin ortografĂa" (Today I write to you without thinking and without spelling). He uses this academic word to show he is so overcome with raw, unfiltered emotion that he's throwing the rules out the window. It's a beautiful metaphor for a love that's too passionate for perfect grammar.
This song from Colombian band Morat is all about that crazy, head-over-heels feeling of love at first sight. The singer sees someone and immediately feels "una mezcla de miedo con locura" (a mix of fear with madness). He knows right away that losing this person would be losing "la más grande fortuna" (the greatest fortune), even though he admits he knows nothing about them yet.
Instead of just being about the initial crush, the song focuses on the promise of what comes next. He doesn't claim to know how to love this person perfectly; instead, he promises to figure it out. He says, "Para aprender a quererte / Voy a estudiar cómo se cumplen tus sueños" (To learn to love you / I'm going to study how your dreams come true). The four of Morat met at school in Bogotá, Colombia, and were playing as Malta by late 2011, renamed before the first record. Juan Pablo Isaza sings and plays guitar, Juan Pablo Villamil plays the banjo that gives their pop its country tilt, and the Vargas brothers hold the bottom end, SimĂłn on bass and MartĂn on percussion.
They broke out in 2015, first on Paulina Rubio's "Mi nuevo vicio" and then with their own "Cómo te atreves". Sobre el amor y sus efectos secundarios (2016) led to Balas perdidas (2018), a number one in Spain and Mexico with "Besos en guerra" alongside Juanes plus "No se va", which Grupo Frontera's 2022 cover turned into their most-streamed song. ¿A dónde vamos? (2021) and Si ayer fuera hoy (2022) followed, then Ya es mañana (2025), their first Latin Grammy winner, for Best Pop/Rock Album. Its tour opened with six nights at Bogotá's Movistar Arena in August 2026, and a May 2026 duet with Silvestre Dangond, "Lo poco que yo quiero", previews a second volume.
