empatia — empathy

Empatia translates directly to "empathy". It's a beautiful and meaningful word that, while understood, isn't as commonly featured in pop song lyrics as words like "love" or "peace".

In "Paz E Amor," Melim explicitly calls for empatia among all peoples and nations, highlighting its importance for a world free of conflict. This makes it a central and impactful word in the song's message of unity and understanding.

This song is a beautiful and simple message about choosing kindness and positivity. Melim starts with a personal promise of support, singing, "Pro que der e vier, 'cê sabe / Eu 'to aqui" (For whatever comes, you know / I'm here). The song suggests that the best way to handle life's problems is with a positive attitude, gratitude, and laughter. It's about finding what makes you happy as a way to escape your troubles.

From there, the song expands its message to the whole world. Melim presents a powerful idea: "A bondade que 'cê vê, é o espelho de você / E o mal que faz pro outro te envenena" (The kindness you see is a mirror of you / And the evil you do to others poisons you). The band reminds us that we are all "filhos da mesma esfera" (children of the same sphere) and asks a simple question that gets to the heart of the song: "Quem no mundo não quer paz e amor?" (Who in the world doesn't want peace and love?). It's a sweet and hopeful anthem for a better world.

Melim is a Brazilian pop trio made up of siblings Rodrigo, Gabriela, and Diogo Melim, twins Rodrigo and Diogo plus their younger sister Gabi, all born and raised in Niterói, in Rio de Janeiro state.

The group came together in 2015 and reached a national audience the following year as semifinalists on the Brazilian television competition "Superstar." Their self-titled debut album followed in 2018, filled with warm, acoustic-driven pop songs the three siblings wrote themselves.

Melim became known across Brazil for feel-good hits like "Meu Abrigo," "Ouvi Dizer," and "Gelo," blending pop melodies with gentle Brazilian singer-songwriter harmonies. That hopeful, easygoing spirit runs through their catalogue, wrapping simple wishes for peace and kindness in a breezy sound.
