Madsen is a German rock band from the tiny village of Priesseck near Clenze, in the Wendland region of Lower Saxony. The group formed in 2004 and is built around three brothers, Sebastian, Johannes and Sascha Madsen, joined by guitarist Niko Maurer, which is where the band took its name.
After years of playing together in earlier bands, they signed with Universal and released their self-titled debut album in 2005. Singing entirely in German, Madsen blends indie, pop, rock and punk into anthemic, emotionally direct songs.
