pourvu que — provided that / as long as

Pourvu que means "provided that" or "as long as." It's an elegant and slightly formal phrase used to express a strong wish or a single, crucial condition for something to happen.

What makes this phrase special for learners is that it's always followed by the subjunctive mood, a key grammar point for expressing desire. In the song, M. Pokora sings, "je ne changerais rien pourvu que tu sois mienne" (I wouldn't change a thing, as long as you are mine), using it to convey that his entire happiness hinges on this one romantic condition.

Mille Fois (A Thousand Times) is M. Pokora’s passionate love letter to the one person he would choose over and over. The singer imagines every “what if” possible: what if his lover never existed, what if time could start again, what if he had to retrace every step of their story. No matter the scenario, his promise never changes. He would search the world, relive every moment, and declare "Je t’aimerais mille fois, je te choisirais mille fois" — “I would love you a thousand times, I would choose you a thousand times.” The chorus repeats like a heartbeat, turning simple words into an anthem of absolute devotion.

The song is not just about romance; it is about gratitude and unshakable certainty. Even with the power to rewind life, Pokora insists he would alter nothing as long as their love remains. Wrapped in bright pop production and soaring vocals, the track invites listeners to reflect on the people they would pick again and again. It is a feel-good reminder that true love is timeless, destined, and always worth the journey.

M. Pokora is a French singer, songwriter, and dancer born Matthieu Tota on September 26, 1985, in Strasbourg, France.

He got his start on the reality show Popstars with the group Linkup before going solo in 2004 as Matt Pokora. A 2005 lawsuit from R&B singer Matt Houston forced him to shorten his name, and "M. Pokora" stuck for the rest of his career; the stage name itself comes from a conversation with his Polish grandmother about humility, "pokora" in Polish.

Since then he has become one of France's biggest pop stars, blending pop, R&B, and dance influences across albums like R.E.D. and Pyramide. His 2016 album My Way, a tribute to the legendary French singer Claude François, went straight to number one in France. Off stage, he is married to the actress and singer Christina Milian.
