Dévorer literally means "to devour" or "to eat ravenously". It's a strong and evocative verb that goes beyond simply "eating" and implies a consuming passion or destruction.
In "La Pluie", Louane uses it in the phrase "nos cœurs se dévorent" (our hearts devour each other). This powerful imagery suggests an intense, almost destructive, love or conflict between two people, making it a captivating and memorable word choice for a song about a tumultuous relationship.
La Pluie turns a simple rainstorm into a vivid metaphor for a relationship caught between tender memories and gathering clouds. Louane watches water drip through the room and wonders if it is the sky weeping or her own tears. Every raindrop mirrors her trembling hands, her fading flame, and the aching question: “Do you still love me?” Even as the thunder grows louder, a single glance from her partner makes her lower her guard, revealing how fragile and fierce love can be all at once.
The chorus repeats like steady rainfall, reminding us that heartache and hope often pour down together. Louane accepts the storm, convinced that if they can face it side by side, they will emerge stronger. La Pluie is ultimately a love letter to resilience: it admits the pain of distance, celebrates the electricity of two hearts “devouring” one another, and clings to the belief that after every downpour, something bright can still grow.
Louane was born Anne Peichert in 1996 in the Pas-de-Calais, in the north of France, and at sixteen she reached the semi-finals of The Voice: la plus belle voix. A year later she played Paula, the hearing daughter of a deaf farming family, in the film La Famille Bélier, and won the César for Most Promising Actress for the role.
Her debut album Chambre 12 (2015) went to number one in France and sold over three quarters of a million copies that year, carried by "Avenir", "Jour 1" and "Maman", a song written for her mother, who had died the year before. Louane (2017), Joie de vivre (2020), Sentiments (2022) and Solo (2024) followed, and in 2025 she represented France at Eurovision with a new song called "Maman", again about her mother, finishing seventh.
