entienden — understand

Entienden comes from the verb entender, meaning "to understand." While entender is a common verb, its use in this context is particularly poignant.

In the song, the lyric "Que no me entienden" (That they don't understand me) expresses a feeling of isolation or being misunderstood. It's a relatable human emotion that adds depth to the song's narrative, making it an engaging word for learners.

Los Socios Del Ritmo bring us a song that feels like a heartfelt plea, even if the lyrics are a little fragmented. It seems like someone is feeling misunderstood and unloved, saying "pienso que no me entienden, que no me ama" [I think they don't understand me, that they don't love me].

Despite this feeling, there's a strong declaration of devotion. The singer talks about giving "todo a tus pies hasta el fin" [everything at your feet until the end] and mentions something being "de mi corazón" [from my heart]. It's a mix of vulnerability and deep commitment, even with the confusion of "no sé para qué lo cambiamos" [I don't know why we changed it]. It really makes you wonder what happened!

Los Socios Del Ritmo have been on the road since 1962, when the Ruiz Pinzón brothers started the band in Campeche, on Mexico's Gulf coast. They began with ska, mambo and cha-cha-chá, and their first album was called simply Ska. Cumbia and romantic ballads took over later, played by a big line-up of saxophones, percussion, guitars and keyboards that is still the group's sound.

"Vamos a platicar" made them a national name in 1970, and Alfonso Cuarón put it on the soundtrack of Roma in 2018. Their 1983 album ¡Y ahora! Conniff brought a Grammy nomination in the tropical Latin category. The biggest seller came much later: "Llorar", from 1999, which went to the top of the charts in Mexico and is still the song most people know them for. Amor de Internet followed in 2002, and in 2020 they recut Ricky Martin's "Te Extraño, Te Olvido, Te Amo" as a cumbia with Chiquis Rivera on vocals.
