Me encontrar literally means "to find myself". It combines the verb encontrar (to find) with the reflexive pronoun me (myself).
This phrase is the heart of the song, featured in its title "Preciso Me Encontrar" (I Need to Find Myself). It represents a profound journey of self-discovery, where the singer must leave everything behind to connect with their true identity. It’s a beautiful and relatable expression for anyone on a path of personal growth.
“Preciso Me Encontrar” is a soulful manifesto of self-discovery. Over Liniker’s velvety vocals and the powerful Afro-Brazilian percussion of Ilú Obá De Min, the narrator asks for permission to go, not out of rebellion but out of necessity. Each verse is a gentle insistence: they need to wander, laugh instead of cry, and let nature’s simple miracles—the sunrise, flowing rivers, birdsong—guide their inner compass.
The journey is both literal and emotional. By stepping away, the singer hopes to be “reborn,” to return only after finding the missing pieces of themselves. It’s an invitation to embrace change, trust the healing rhythm of life, and remember that sometimes the only way back home is by first walking away.
Liniker de Barros Ferreira Campos, known simply as Liniker, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and actress born in Araraquara, in the state of São Paulo. She grew up in a musical household surrounded by samba, samba rock, and soul, and first found wide attention as the leader of the band Liniker e os Caramelows, whose viral single "Zero" and crowdfunded debut album Remonta made her one of the freshest voices in Brazilian Black music.
Liniker publicly came out as a transgender woman in 2017 and launched her solo career in 2020 with the acclaimed album Indigo Borboleta Anil. In 2022 she became the first transgender woman to win a Latin Grammy, and in 2023 she was named to a chair in the Brazilian Academy of Culture, another historic first. Her sound blends R&B, blues, and soul with the rhythms of samba rock, and CAJU, the 2024 album that includes "Tudo," is a warm, romantic showcase of that eclectic style.
