pisteando — drinking (socially)

Pisteando is a very common Mexican slang word for drinking alcohol, especially with friends. It's a colloquial term you won't learn in a textbook, making it perfect for understanding real-world, conversational Spanish.

In the song, Junior H sings that he's pisteando with his buddies (compas) to try and forget a painful breakup. This single word perfectly captures the song's theme of trying to heal a broken heart with the help of good friends.

Junior H’s “Tres Botellas” turns a lively cantina night into an emotional confession. Over an infectious Regional Mexican groove, the singer pops open botecitos (little beers) and downs three bottles of liquor, hoping each swig will numb the sting of a recent breakup. Friends, music, even flirtatious chats with other women can’t mute the ache, so he keeps drinking, trying to drown memories that stubbornly resurface.

The lyrics paint a vivid picture of heartbreak masked by partying: every bottle is a band-aid, every toast an attempt to stop the tears. While people around him ask, “What happened to you two?” he hides behind more tequila instead of explanations. “Tres Botellas” captures that bittersweet mix of festive sound and raw vulnerability, reminding listeners that sometimes the loudest celebrations echo the deepest sorrows.

Junior H taught himself guitar and accordion off YouTube while working the kitchen at a Wendy's in Utah, where his family had moved in 2015 from Cerano, Guanajuato. Born Antonio Herrera Pérez in 2001, he uploaded his own songs under the name until one of them, "No Eh Cambiado", passed two million views and convinced him to make a career of it. The debut album Mi Vida en un Cigarro arrived in 2019.

He writes sad music, mostly: heartbreak over sierreño guitars, the corner of corridos tumbados people call urban sierreño. $ad Boyz 4 Life II (2023) reached number 14 on the Billboard 200 carrying no guest features at all, and produced "Y Lloro" and "Las Noches". Away from his own records he sings on "El Azul" with Peso Pluma, and on "Lady Gaga" with Peso Pluma and Gabito Ballesteros, which entered Hot Latin Songs at number one. In February 2026 he and songwriter Gael Valenzuela released the joint album DEPR</3$$ED MFKZ, a number one on Billboard's Top Regional Mexican Albums chart.
