derretia — I was melting

Derretía is the past tense of the verb derretir, which literally means 'to melt'. It's a beautifully descriptive word used to express being overcome with emotion.

In this song, the singer says, "De tus besos y abrazos me derretia" (I would melt from your kisses and hugs). She uses this metaphor to describe how she was once completely captivated and weakened by her lover's affection, painting a powerful picture of past infatuation.

This is the ultimate breakup anthem! Jesse & Joy kick things off by looking back at a relationship where they were completely fooled. The singer remembers being so in love, admitting they were "Tonta y enamorada" (Silly and in love), believing all the sweet talk and "caricias vacias" (empty caresses). But then comes the truth: "Me engañaste y dejaste / Lastimaste a mi pobre corazón" (You cheated on me and left / You hurt my poor heart).

But this isn't a song for feeling sad! It's about taking your power back. The singer decides they're done, declaring, "Ya no quiero ver tu foto en mi buro" (I don't want to see your photo on my dresser anymore). They're moving on, maturing, and starting over. And the best part? They get the last word with a final, savage burn: "Y todo este tiempo te he mentido / Pues tus besos no son lo mejor" (And all this time I've been lying to you / Because your kisses are not the best). It's such a perfect way to say "I'm over you, and you weren't that great anyway."
