algoritmo — algorithm

Algoritmo means "algorithm", a word you'd expect in a tech class, not a love song! It's a very modern and unexpected word to find in the lyrics of a romantic track.

In the song, the singer asks, "¿Qué culpa tengo de lo que hay en mi algoritmo?" (What fault do I have for what's in my algorithm?). He uses this word to blame social media for causing his partner's jealousy, highlighting a uniquely 21st-century relationship problem.

Picture this: it is midnight, and an argument breaks out over social media. In "No Lo Ves", Grupo Frontera and Ozuna tell the story of a guy who is completely exhausted by his partner's jealousy and unfair comparisons. The track kicks off with a hilarious, modern complaint about phone feeds: "¿Qué culpa tengo de lo que hay en mi algoritmo?" ("How is it my fault what is in my algorithm?"). He insists he is faithful, but her bad past relationships make her doubt him. Whenever he steps out, she assumes he is with other women instead of his buddies ("mis compas"), yet he swears his only crime is wanting to make her happy ("De hacerte feliz es de lo que soy culpable" [Making you happy is what I'm guilty of]).

Despite the late-night friction, he is genuinely obsessed with her and makes that crystal clear. He reminds her that other women message him all the time ("todas me tiran" [they all hit on me / shoot their shot with me]), yet he never texts back. Instead, he dreams of taking her on a luxury trip ("pa' Bahamas") and hypes up her natural look with "Eres más linda sin maquillar" ("You are prettier without makeup"). It is an honest, relatable track about loving someone who still looks at you and unfairly compares you to their ex ("me comparas con él").

Grupo Frontera were playing weddings and parties around Edinburg, Texas, deep in the Rio Grande Valley, when a TikTok clip of their cover of Morat's "No Se Va" got away from them in 2022. The five of them are Adelaido "Payo" Solís III on lead vocals, Juan Javier Cantú on accordion, Alberto "Beto" Acosta on bajo quinto, Julian Peña Jr. on congas and Carlos Guerrero on drums. What they play is norteño sitting on a cumbia backbeat: miserable lyrics at a tempo you can dance to.

"Bebe Dame" with Fuerza Regida took them to No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs, and "un x100to" with Bad Bunny went to No. 5 on the Hot 100 and won the 2023 Latin Grammy for Best Regional Mexican Song. Their debut album El Comienzo won Best Norteño Album the year after, followed by Jugando a Que No Pasa Nada in 2024 and Lo Que Me Falta Por Llorar in 2025. Shakira called them in for "(Entre Paréntesis)", Maluma for "Por Qué Será" and Carín León for "Que Vuelvas". In 2026 they took two Grammy nominations for Best Música Mexicana Album.
