cazzate — bullshit / stupid things

Cazzate is a very common Italian slang term that literally translates to "bullshit" or "stupid things." It's a versatile word used to describe nonsense, silly actions, or trivial matters.

In "Rotta X Casa Di Dio," the word appears multiple times, highlighting the carefree and somewhat reckless attitude of the friends. They talk about "una cazzata e l'altra" (one stupid thing after another) and later, when things go wrong, they end up "a fare cazzate" (doing stupid things). It perfectly captures the youthful, irreverent spirit of the song and is a word you'll definitely hear in everyday Italian conversations, making it interesting for learners.

"Rotta X Casa Di Dio" is a comic road-trip story. A group of friends is running late to meet Cisco at a bar at 8:30, and by the time they pile into the car, they are already behind schedule for the party where girls are waiting for them.

"Rotta per casa di Dio" (literally "route to God's house") is their joking name for the confusing, roundabout path they keep taking to get there. Every time they think they are close, someone takes a wrong turn, and the chorus repeats as they circle back again, more lost and more frustrated with each other.

Along the way they blame each other for getting lost, argue about directions, and get distracted by an overpass and a service station that seem to appear out of nowhere. By the end of the night, the party they were chasing barely matters anymore. What they are left with is a ridiculous, unforgettable night with friends, beers in hand, laughing about how badly the whole trip went.

Max Pezzali's cameo near the end (with Cisco calling him in) fits the song's easygoing, joke-among-friends tone.
