"El De La Kush" is a smoker's anthem, plain and simple. Diferente Nivel open with "prendo el gallo" (I light up the joint). In Mexican slang a gallo is literally a rooster, but here it means a joint, and kush in the title is a strain of weed. The next lines leave no doubt: "esta hierba poder quemar" (to be able to burn this herb).

What makes the song fun is how calm it insists it is. The narrator says "me gusta sentir que voy volando" (I like feeling like I'm flying) and that time is stopping before he lands. Then comes the friendly warning: "soy buena persona, lo sabrán, pero no me hagan enojar" (I'm a good person, you'll see, but don't make me angry). He repeats that he is relaxed, "no vayan a pensar que me alteré" (don't go thinking I got worked up).

There is a quieter moment near the end too. He smokes "para recordar a alguien quien se ha ido y salir de esta realidad" (to remember someone who is gone and escape this reality). It is a small, sad line in an otherwise laid-back track, and it gives the song more weight than you would expect from a weed ode.

Learner tip: no vayan a pensar (don't go thinking) is a handy way to say "don't get the wrong idea".
