raptakidnaps / abducts

Raptar means to 'kidnap' or 'abduct'. It's a strong and somewhat provocative word that immediately grabs attention, as it's not commonly found in everyday romantic lyrics.

In the song, the artist sings, "Yo soy quien te rapta / Pa' mi cama a matar las ganas" (I'm the one who kidnaps you / To my bed to kill the desire). Here, it's used playfully and metaphorically to express an intense, almost irresistible desire to take the person to bed, rather than a literal abduction. This bold and slightly edgy usage makes it memorable and enticing.

Cris MJ builds the whole track around one hook that repeats until it sticks: "Conmigo se escapa, sus ojos me matan" ("With me she slips away, her eyes kill me"). He's talking about a girl he's spotted on the club floor, and the verses fill in exactly how the night goes: "Y cuando la miré" ("And when I looked at her"), "Nos fuimos conectando" ("We started connecting"), then things move to the dance floor with "En la disco perreándote" ("In the club grinding on you"). By the second verse other women are trying to get his attention, "Par de gatas tirándome" ("A couple of chicks hitting on me"), and he brushes past it: "Pero sabes que la quiero a usted" ("but you know that I want you").

The word "rapta" in the hook, him calling himself the one who "kidnaps" her, is a wink, not a threat; it's the same cocky, half-serious tone that runs through the whole song. Once the story's told there's nothing left to explain, so the track just rides its own groove out through a repeated "Tra, tra, tra" hook and closes with Cris MJ naming himself and his label, "Mj, del Más Que Suena'" ("Mj, from Más Que Suena").
