enchulao' — smitten / infatuated

Enchulao' is a popular slang term from the verb enchularse, meaning to become smitten or infatuated with someone. It's a fun, casual way to say you're developing a big crush on a person.

In the song, Beele sings, "No me he enchulao', pero casi, casi" which translates to "I'm not smitten, but almost, almost." This key line perfectly captures the theme of trying to play it cool while unexpectedly falling for someone. Learning this word is a great way to understand modern, everyday Spanish you won't find in a textbook.

Colombian singer Beéle and Puerto Rican hitmaker Farruko lean right into that nervous stage of catching feelings before you are ready to admit it. Beéle starts off freaked out by his own attachment, admitting: "No me gusta lo mucho que esto me está gustando" ["I don't like how much I'm liking this"]. He even uses Caribbean slang to pump the brakes: "No me he enchulao', pero casi, casi, casi" ["I haven't fallen head over heels, but almost, almost, almost"]. In Puerto Rico and Colombia, enchularse means falling hard in love, and he repeats "casi" like an excuse to protect his pride.

From there, the track zooms straight into daydreams of showing off together. Farruko dreams up a luxury escape filled with martinis, paninis, and sports cars with 22-inch rims ("los aros 22"). He even shouts out reggaeton veteran Lennox with the line "Mamacita, estás durini" ["Mamacita, you look extremely hot"], using a playful slang twist on dura (gorgeous, tough). Between Beéle offering late-night rides at 3:00 AM and Farruko throwing in Arabic phrases like "mi habibi" [my love] and "Insha Allah" [God willing], the track is an all-out fantasy of turning a late-night call into a beach getaway on the Greek island of Santorini.
