enfango — I get muddy / I get into a mess

Enfango comes from the verb enfangar, which literally means "to get muddy". Metaphorically, it's used to describe getting involved in a complicated or messy situation that could tarnish your reputation.

In the song, Bad Bunny brilliantly links both meanings. He says, "Contigo no me enfango, no voy a manchar las Off-White" (I won't get into a mess with you, I'm not going to stain my Off-Whites). This clever wordplay shows he's protecting his new, elevated status, refusing to get dragged into the 'mud' of a past drama, just as he would protect his expensive sneakers from getting dirty.

In "Pero Ya No", Puerto Rican hitmaker Bad Bunny delivers the ultimate post-breakup reality check with pure reggaeton bounce. The message is simple and merciless: "Antes yo te quería, pero ya no" ("I used to love you before, but not anymore"). Now that he has moved on, his ex is suddenly blowing up his social media, but he is having none of it. He calls out her "amor fake" ("fake love") and tells her to stop stalking him with a witty gaming comparison: "A mí ya no me cachas, yo no soy un Pokémon" ("You can't catch me anymore, I am not a Pokémon").

He piles on everyday Puerto Rican slang and pop culture references to show just how far out of her reach he is. He says they could have been a power couple like "J.Lo" and "Álex Rodríguez", but instead he is chilling with someone new from Bayamón (a city in northern Puerto Rico). Bad Bunny reminds her that high school is over ("los tiempos de la high"), he has bought a Hayabusa motorcycle that he refuses to give her a ride on, and he certainly will not get his designer Off-White sneakers dirty over her ("Contigo no me enfango, no voy a manchar las Off-White"). It is petty, funny, and completely final: "esa es la que hay" ("that's just the way it is").

Bad Bunny was bagging groceries at a supermarket in Vega Baja and studying audiovisual communication at the University of Puerto Rico's Arecibo campus when the tracks he was uploading to SoundCloud between shifts reached DJ Luian, who signed him to Hear This Music in 2016. He was born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio in Bayamón in 1994 and grew up in the Almirante Sur barrio of Vega Baja.

The breakout was "Diles" in 2016, then "Soy Peor" that December, and by 2018 he was on Cardi B's "I Like It", a number one on the Hot 100. His albums run from X 100pre and YHLQMDLG through Un Verano Sin Ti, the year end number one on the Billboard 200 in 2022, to Debí Tirar Más Fotos, which in February 2026 became the first all Spanish language album to win the Grammy for Album of the Year. He also has "Callaíta", "Dakiti" and "Tití Me Preguntó" behind him, a summer 2025 residency at the Coliseo José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, and a WrestleMania tag team match in 2021 that he and Damian Priest won.
