In this bachata classic, the singer proudly calls himself "Tu loco trastornado, mami mĂa" (Your deranged madman, my love). He's embracing the idea that his love is so intense and all-consuming that it drives him to a state that defies all logic and sanity, making for an unforgettable declaration.
In "Inmortal," Aventura's lead singer, Romeo Santos, declares a love that's so powerful and eternal it defies all logic and science. He claims outsiders just can't understand it: "Nadie entiende cĂłmo este amor funciona" (Nobody understands how this love works). He's so sure of his feelings that he challenges experts to study his brain, convinced they'll find his love is a medical anomaly. He even says they'll find his behavior isn't normal and that his heart was made eternal by God.
The song is full of wild, over-the-top comparisons to show just how extreme his love is. He says it's "SĂłlido como meteorito" (Solid like a meteorite) and that he'll love her "hasta lo infinito" (to infinity). He claims his love is so crazy that scientists are looking for a cure and that he should be in the Guinness World Records as the man who has loved a woman the most. Aventura played Dominican bachata the way it sounded in the Bronx, where they formed as teenagers under the name Los Tinellers. The genre's guitar figures got pulled toward R&B and hip hop, and English kept slipping into the Spanish mid-verse. Anthony "Romeo" Santos sang lead in a high, pleading tenor, Henry Santos sang alongside him, Lenny Santos wrote the guitar parts and Max Santos played bass.
"ObsesiĂłn", from We Broke the Rules (2002), spent sixteen straight weeks at number one in Italy and seven in France, which is not where a bachata single was supposed to end up. God's Project (2005) carried "La Boda", "Un Beso" and "Ella y Yo" with Don Omar, and The Last (2009) reached number five on the Billboard 200 behind "Dile al Amor" and "El Malo". They split in 2011, Romeo going solo while Lenny and Max formed Vena, then reunited in 2019 for "Inmortal" and took "VolvĂ" with Bad Bunny to number one on Hot Latin Songs in 2021. The farewell Cerrando Ciclos tour closed in January 2025 with four stadium nights in Santo Domingo.
