freaky — freaky

Freaky is an English word that has been incorporated into Spanish slang, especially in reggaeton and urban music. It means unusual, strange, or sexually suggestive.

In Anitta's song, she uses "freaky" to describe a wild and uninhibited atmosphere, inviting someone to let loose and be adventurous. It's an interesting example of how English words are adopted and used in a new cultural context within Spanish music.

Anitta spends the whole song telling someone exactly what she is about to do to them. "Ven y vamo' hasta abajo que lo que quiero es ponerte lo-co" (Come on, let's go all the way down, because what I want is to drive you crazy) is the thesis, and everything after it is evidence. She describes her own dancing as "Come un tsunami" (Like a tsunami), then one line later says what happens to whoever is watching: "Mientras tú te hunde'" (While you go under). The flirting runs on food and clothes. "Te dejo probar mi manzana con canela" (I'll let you taste my apple with cinnamon) needs no explaining, and "Como te rompe este pantalón, low" (How these low-rise trousers wreck you) is her being genuinely pleased with herself.

The hook barely bothers with words. "Lo-lo lo-lo lo lo-lo lo-lo lo lo-lo lo-lo lo-lo" drags the first syllable of loco out over four bars before it lands on "Lo-co" (Cra-zy), so by the time the word shows up you have been dancing to it for ten seconds already. The English lines are thrown in as instructions rather than lyrics, like "Just follow, follow, follow" and "Mis caderas" (My hips). And when Anitta finally comments on any of it, all she offers is "Loco, demente" (Crazy, demented) followed by "Menos mal se está bailando" (Good thing everyone's dancing).
